anja rubik in numero, may 2010

Who doesn't love them some Anja Rubik?! I know I do! Here she is, stunning in Numero May 2010. Shot by Camilla Akrans and titled Plein Soleil (Blazing Sun). It is simultaneously strong and soft with the denim and high waisted shorts giving it somewhat of an 80's feel. The bold makeup is magic to be inspired by. This actually may be my new favorite shoot with Anja. It's so simple, beautiful, strong, and sexy all tied into one amazing pictorial. Camilla at her best makes every photo look like it was painted with the silvery light of dawn on a canvas of cloudy sky. Simply stunning.

gisele bundchen is an army poster girl in vogue mexico, may 2010

WOW! Can you say MILF?! Gisele is looking fine in these photos. Here she is in Vogue Mexico, May 2010. Just wonderful. Her hair, her skin, the lighting, the colours - everything! She's undeniably one of the hottest supermodels out there. Everyone knows that Brazil produces some of the best models, but Gisele is also part German. Seems to me that Brazilian/German is the way to go! Anyway, two trends are pushing for dominance of Spring/Summer 2010: military chic and fashionable sportswear. Personally, I am loving the military look right now, so that trend will probably end up coming out on top. I've always been in love with sailor and military inspired fashion. I may not rock it, but I sure do love it!

saint augustine academy does vampiric chic for spring

Vampire chic hit the runway the other day at Saint Augustine Academy, who were sponsored by hit vampire HBO series, True Blood. Their opening Australian fashion week outfit was double denim for men, but with a slightly Southern feel (think Vampire Bill!). Alternative goth elements were rife from chain suspenders for men to women's chained body jewelry, studs, intense black spiked hair and white fabric dip-died with red to create a bloody effect. While the studded denim was wearable, it didn't stand out: so it was a relief to see the label's skinny tailored men's suiting make a return with it's expected rock vibe. At it's more extravagant, the menswear saw a white tuxedo jacket with black lapels and piping, which fans of the label will undoubtedly use to dress up skinny black jeans on a night out on the town.

The beauty look on the female models was vampishly striking, with blood red lips and matching red eyeliner sweeping out from under the bottom lids. Hair was at times slicked to the side to create a punkish fauxhawk, or wildly tousled like horror film vixens and 'scream queens'. Its unusual to say that we've seen something on a runway that we've never seen before - but we can do that with Saint Augustine Academy. I'm talking about the hooks and eyelets glued to the models' eyebrows which added to the alternative, gothic craziness!

quote of the day

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

not myself tonight...or any other night

I don't even know who I am anymore. I haven't been myself lately and I'm not quite sure if it's a good thing or if it's a bad thing. All I know is that I just feel...different. I think I've lost myself. I'm so pessimistic and cynical and I don't know why. I used to be so happy and optimistic. I'm not satisfied with anything anymore. Material things or not, I'm just not satisfied. I wonder if I seem different to those around me. If only they could see things from my perspective. I just feel as if I've let go of everything...my hopes and dreams. I'll go out and party and the drinks will be flowing but that's only temporary happiness. It's not genuine at all and what I strive for is genuine happiness. My world is falling apart and all the bullshit that's going on in this crazy world isn't helping. It hurts me to see all these disasters happening. It's amazing how I can feel for those who are feeling the effects of the disasters first hand. That's my humanity. There's still some of the old me left, but its buried deep inside the new me, whoever that is. I saw this somewhere yesterday and I really liked it:

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside each of us. He said, "My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith." The grandson thought about it for a moment and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?" The wise old Cherokee replied simply, "The one you feed."

This little story relates to my situation right now. The two wolves inside of me and fighting for control over me....and apparently it's the evil that's winning.

why don't you love me?

I saw this new Beyonce video for her song 'Why Don't You Love Me?' for the first time earlier today and I just love, love, LOVE it! I love anything vintage and pin-up girl style and this video is definitely no exception. It's a great song and I love how B plays a housewife/homemaker. My favorite outfit is the scene where she's dancing on the couch by the sign that says the song title. The Bettie Page hairstyle looks great on her, as it did in Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' video. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I do!

it's been awhile...

I'm back! After what seemed like a super long break from blogging, I'm trying to get back in the habit after I had a few nudges to post more from some people on formspring, so here I am! Alot has been going on in my life lately and I'm having a ball. I've been up to my usual shenanigans, hanging with my girls, shopping, and of course hitting the clubs. I just realized I didn't post one single entry during the whole month of April...wow! I guess I'll have to make up for that this month. Anyway, right now I'm laying in bed (can't sleep yet again) and watching True Blood. I can't wait for the 3rd season to start next month! It'll definitely satisfy my...thirst with Vampire Diaries coming to an end. I'll try to do more personal posts like this every week. Until next time...;)

isabeli fontana in harper's bazaar russia, march 2010

Here is Brazilian beauty Isabeli Fontana working it on the streets of Paris, France in the Russian issue of Harper's Bazaar, March 2010. I know I'm a bit late on this one, but I just had to share it with you all! I love anything Parisian and anything involving the famous Eiffel Tower. Anyone else notice her cute little ladybug tattoo?

lauren budd GQ magazine, june 2010

Here is gorgeous lingerie/swimsuit model, Lauren Budd. To be honest, I haven't really heard of her, but I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for more pictorials featuring her. All I know about her is that she has modeled lingerie for La Senza. I've googled her and I can't even find much on her! Hopefully she becomes more well known because as of right now, she's the hottest model I've never heard of ;)
