saint augustine academy does vampiric chic for spring

Vampire chic hit the runway the other day at Saint Augustine Academy, who were sponsored by hit vampire HBO series, True Blood. Their opening Australian fashion week outfit was double denim for men, but with a slightly Southern feel (think Vampire Bill!). Alternative goth elements were rife from chain suspenders for men to women's chained body jewelry, studs, intense black spiked hair and white fabric dip-died with red to create a bloody effect. While the studded denim was wearable, it didn't stand out: so it was a relief to see the label's skinny tailored men's suiting make a return with it's expected rock vibe. At it's more extravagant, the menswear saw a white tuxedo jacket with black lapels and piping, which fans of the label will undoubtedly use to dress up skinny black jeans on a night out on the town.

The beauty look on the female models was vampishly striking, with blood red lips and matching red eyeliner sweeping out from under the bottom lids. Hair was at times slicked to the side to create a punkish fauxhawk, or wildly tousled like horror film vixens and 'scream queens'. Its unusual to say that we've seen something on a runway that we've never seen before - but we can do that with Saint Augustine Academy. I'm talking about the hooks and eyelets glued to the models' eyebrows which added to the alternative, gothic craziness!
